QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager to outline what is available to Residents in Greenhills Estate to eliminate graffiti in rear Laneways and will he make a statement on the issue?"

REPLY:

The local Anti-Litter Warden reports that most of the graffiti in laneways is on private property and residents have an obligations under s. 19 of the Litter Pollution Act, 1997 to ensure that property is free from litter (including graffiti)  

The Warden will generally advise residents of their responsibilities and request that they take action to remove graffiti from their property.  In some instances and when resources allow, the Warden may supply materials to assist in the removal.  However, enforcement action may be taken where remedial action is not taken.
