Community Facility Update

TALLAGHT LEISURE CENTRE

Construction of this €17m project commenced on 7th March 2005 and was completed in August 2006 and officially opened for business to public on 13th November 2006.

The facility is operating extremely well and users are increasing all the time and availing fully all the facilities. A Multi-use Games Area  has  been an added feature to the facility.

 

Brookfield Youth & Community Centre

Construction commenced in November 2004. 

The facility is now operating services from the Centre.

 

Knockmitten Community Centre, Monksfield Clondalkin

Construction commenced November 2004.  The facility was officially opened  on 27th June 2006 and has proved a great success since offering a variety of services for the local youth. 

Ballyowen Community Facility Lucan

 A management committee has been formed.  Officially opened April 2006. The following groups have been approved for tenancies to date

Lucan Citizens Advice Centre

Lucan Home Start

Liffey F.M.

Yoga Classes

     Bridge Club

County Dublin VEC

County Arts Centre Tallaght

The contract for construction of the new County Arts Centre was signed on 9th Feb 2007 with Townlink Construction Ltd.  The works commenced 19th Feb 07.

The project which had a contract value in excess of €9m was commissioned by the Community Services Dept & developed under the direction of the County Architect.

Project officially opened on 5th February 2009

New Clondalkin Swimming Pool

Department of Art, Sport and Tourism grant in the sum of €3.8 million approved. Overall cost €13 M..   

Officially opened in June 2008

Recently received a LAMA award

Skateboard Facility Lucan

Open for public use. All main works completed and passed by ROSPA.

RAPID Playgrounds

 

Clondalkin Leisure Centre, Corkagh Park – ALL Weather Facility

Officially opened on 31st January 2006.

 Under the management of the Sports and Leisure Complex and is fully  booked  

Lucan Sports & Leisure Centre

Upgrading of central heating and installation of new windows. All works complete.

 

St Mark’s Youth & Family Facility

Works  include the refurbishment and extension of existing facility at St. Mark’s Youth & Family Centre and ancillary landscaping.   Refurbishment works consist of :

The Childhood Development Initiative has indicated their intention to locate their administration for an initial 5 year period at this location.

New County Library

Since it opened in April ’08 there have been over 340,000 visitors with 102,820 computer sessions having been booked and 260,000 items borrowed by customers.

TALLAGHT STADIUM

 Completed and opened to Public on 13th March with Shamrock Rovers as anchor tenants.

 

Tallaght Stadium will prove to be a tremendous community asset as well as as a source of pride for the community well into the future.

The following facilities are being/ have been provided/supported in partnership with other organizations/ community groups in recent years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition numerous Playing pitches and Changing rooms have been provided throughout the County.
