TRAFFIC PROBLEMS AT SCOIL CAITLIN MAUDE

Over the course of the last number of years, a series of meetings have been held with the Principals of the above schools to discuss traffic congestion , illegal parking and concerns for pupils safety particularly at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Arising from the above meetings, the Council has carried out  extensive traffic management  measures in the vicinity of the schools entrance and these measures include the following

As with many of the schools throughout the country, traffic congestion is on-going especially at school opening and closing times and is mainly due to non-compliance with the specific measures that have been installed by the Council.

Following the February meeting of the Area Committee, arrangements were made to again contact the Gardai and the carrying out of further checks at this location from an enforcement perspective was requested. The Gardai have now stated that following the carrying out of these further road safety checks that an additional 25 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices have been issued to offenders.

An additional technical review has also been carried out and further additional Double Yellow Lines are being recommended for approval. The Council will continue to monitor this location.
