QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor C. King

"To ask the Manager to arrange for the removal of the tree outside *Address Supplied as its roots are causing the footpath to break up and has created a tripping hazzard?"

REPLY:

The Parks Department has recently inspected the tree at the location referred to in the question and it is found to be in a reasonably good and healthy coondition.  The footpath has now been repaired and does not currently present an immediate hazard to pedestrians. It should be noted that there are only a small number of street trees in the Knockmore Park area and they contribute significantly to the overall visual appearance of the area.  Therefore, it is the view of the Parks Department that this tree should be retained at least in the short term.  However, the condition of the tree and the footpath will be monitored closely in the future and any necessary remedial works will be carried out, as deemed appropriate.
