MEETING OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN MEETING

Monday, April 20, 2009

MOTION NO. 49

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

The Council directs the Manager to incorporate the recommendations in the two Reports of the Planning and Economic Development SPCs, viz on Cul-de-Sacs in Residential Estates, and Planning to Reduce/Ameliorate Anti-Social Behaviour, in the Draft Plan in an appropriate way.

REPORT:

One of the main themes of the new County Development Plan will be quality of life for all.  This includes accessibility to community facilities, schools, shops, parks, work places etc and will require a new mind-set in relation to permeability, secure and safe connections and sustainable modes of movement.  The new Development Plan will seek to prevent the proliferation of cul-de-sac forms of development in the future through the creation of lively, attractive, permeable and safe streets not conducive to anti-social behaviour.

 RECOMMENDATION:

That this motion be adopted.
