QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh
"To ask the Manager for a progress report on the introduction of the chips on grey bins and to indicate when the installation will be completed and will the Manager make a statement on this issue?"
REPLY:
The vast majority (circa 94%) of householders on standard domestic waste colelction routes have now had their bins registered for the new Waste Charges system. Some outstanding technical details are being resolved together with a final attempt to contact and register remaining customers. This is with a view to pilot routes being transferred to the new system in the next 4-8 weeks. Account cards are being prepared together with an information pack for customers on these initial routes. Registration of customers on rural and commercial routes is not as advanced but will continue to be progressed in tandem.
There has been a lot of resources invested in the new system and the patience and support of the Members and the public is acknowledged in this regard. The new system is now imminent and will provide many benefits to customers and the Council alike.
