Report of Lucan Clondalkin Area Committee (2) -  24th March 2009

Dealing with Environment, Parks, Community (1 report - Community Grants), Corporate Services and Libraries

REPORT:

The following emergency motion was proposed by Cllr D. Keating, seconded by Cllr D. Corrigan and passed at the  L/C ACM 2 held on 24th March 2009.

"That this committee recommends that Bernard Dunne, South Dublin born World Boxing Association Super Bantom - Weight World Champion be conferred with the Honorary Freedom of the County at an appropriate future Civic Ceremony"

A protocol for conferring the Honorary Freedom of the County exists and identifies that in the first instance a recommendation  be submitted to the Mayor's office for inclusion on an agenda for discussion with the Group Leaders. Where agreement in principle has been reached, a motion should be placed by the Mayor's office on the agenda of the Organisation Procedure & Finance Committee Meeting for consideration and recommendation.  Subsequently the recommendation should then be sent to a full Council Meeting for approval.

Having regard to the Calendar approved in principle at the recent OP&F meeting (see Headed Item 4 below ) it will not be possible for the Mayor's office to revert with a motion to an  OP&F meeting before September 2009
