QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager if he can make a report on the number of companies who have purchased sites in Grange Castle Business Park since 2004 and an update on the number of people employed in companies in the Business Park  in 2004 and currently?

REPLY:

Grange Castle Business Park

Wyeth BioPharma was the first company to locate in the Park. While construction was completed in 2003 commercial production only commenced in 2005. Approximately 1,250 permanent staff has been recruited to date.

Takeda Pharma Ireland Ltd (TPI) commenced construction of their facility in 2003 construction was completed in 2006. The company employs 60 staff in Grange Castle. Takeda purchased an additional 19 acres in the park in 2008 to allow for future expansion of their operations. Takeda have now commenced preplanning discussions in relation to a proposed extension to their facility which will lead to further potential employment.  

Aryzta AG (Cuisine de France /IAWS Group plc) commenced construction of their Facility in late 2006 and went into production in mid 2008. The relocation of office administration staff has yet to be completed. When fully commissioned and staff relocation is completed there will be 500 staff in direct employment.

Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd, commenced construction in November 2007 of Phase I of their development comprising of a Data Server Area, Administrative Area and Canteen. It is anticipated it will be completed in late 2009. Approximately 20 new high value jobs will be generated when the facility goes live.

The above numbers do not include the additional support jobs created in the surrounding area.
