QUESTION NO. 9
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager if he can advise on the amount of financial support which is available this year to fund the various house refurbishment grant schemes, including mobility grants, grants for older people and grants for persons with disability?
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council has not received notification to date of its allocation of funding for 2009 for the Housing Adaptation Grant Scheme for People with a Disability, Housing Aid for Older People Grant Scheme and Mobility Aids Grant Scheme from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. It is unlikely that notification will be received until after the Government's supplementary Budget scheduled for 7th April, 2009.
The Council's total funding allocation in respect of these schemes for 2008 was €4,123,423 and it is anticipated that the funding this year will be broadly similar. In addition the Council carried out works to the sum of approximately €1million on Council properties under the Disabled Person Grants scheme.
