QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the Manager to examine the space opposite 8 Beaufort Court, which was traditionally maintained by the Council but is used by cars now and to prepare a works project to be included in the 2009 programme of works to adddress the problem and return the open space to its previous state?"
REPLY:
In order to prevent unauthorised vehicular access onto the open space at Beaufort Court, bollards were installed by the Parks & Landscape Services Department in 2008. This measure appears to have resolved the problem of vehicles parking on the open space area. As the open space is dominated by a significant specimen of an evergreen oak tree, it is natural that grass cover would be sparse under the shade of its canopy and there are no proposals for landscaping in its vicinity. However, the resident should be advised to make direct contact with the Parks Department to clarify and further discuss the issue.
