MOTION NO.  4

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager, in line with previous commitments given to me on the previous occasions in which I have adressed this matter, take all the steps to regularise the road situation connecting Hermitage Avenue and Hermitage View, including a proper footpath, public lighting and road surface and to outline a timeline for same." 

REPORT:

There are a number of issues which have prevented Hermitage View being taken in charge by the Council

• Access from Hermitage View to Hermitage Avenue is by way of a temporary link road which was constructed without planning permission.
• This link road has no proper footpath nor public lighting and has not been constructed to a satisfactory standard.
• The road and green strips to the side of the road are not in the ownership of SDCC.

The original developers have gone into liquidation and it is understood that the land is now under the control of the Bank of Ireland.

The Law Dept. have enquired from solicitors  for the B.o.I if they would be prepared to cede the land to the Council to carry out the above mentioned works..

To date no response has been received.
