MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave

CATHAOIRLEACH'S BUSINESS

"That the Manager report to this committee on the discussions it has had with Knocklyon Football club."

REPORT:

A meeting took place on 26.01.09 between the Council and officials of Knocklyon United FC.  The officials of the club re-stated their position in relation to the clubhouse and pitches on the lands at Killinniny. The Council restated its position in respect of the Capital Programme and the briefing held with the Elected Members.  Both parties expressed the desire to work together in order to achieve the best outcome for these lands for all concerned.  In order to advance the matter, the Council proposed the following temporary arrangement: -

‘A written agreement with Knocklyon FC for a short term, temporary letting for a second pitch on the lands at Killinniny to the end of the current football season.’

This would be in addition to the pitch facilities (five pitches) already provided by the Council for the club at Delaford (1 pitch), Cherryfield (1 Pitch), Tymon Park (1 Pitch), Castlefield (Killinniny) (1 Pitch) and Kennedy’s Field, Dodder Valley, (1 Pitch).

Knocklyon FC has confirmed by letter of 27.02.09 to the Council it’s acceptance of the proposed temporary letting.  The Parks Department have since met with the club and arrangements are being finalised to provide the club with demountable posts for the purposes of using the second pitch at Killinniny on a temporary basis until the end of this season.  The Council is also in the process of drafting the written agreement to confirm this temporary letting.
