MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager give a report on what actions this council could consider taking to reduce speed on Ballyroan Road
REPORT:
Having inspected this road and having previuosly discussed the issues raised in the motion with the Gardai and at Traffic Management Meetings , we report as follows
Ballyroan Road is classified as a Regional Road (R187). These roads provide links between local districts within urban areas. In consultation with An Garda Siochana, fire, ambulance and bus services at the commencement of the current Traffic Calming Programme it was decided that regional roads would not be suitable for traffic ramps. This practice is in compliance with The Traffic Management Guidlines. It is not intended therefore to provide traffic calming ramps on this road.
Repeater speed limit signs will be installed on this 50 km/hr urban road and it should be noted that we have asked the Gardai to consider this road for speed camera checks.
Children at Play Signs require the Residents to pay a fee of 200 euro per sign / pole or 120 euro for sign only
The provision of a new set of traffic lights at this junction has not been included in the current years budget.
