MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon

"That a comprehensive traffic management plan be prepared in advance of the opening of Tallaght Stadium later this year so as to ensure neighbouring residential estates are not adversely affected."

REPORT:

The stadium has been inspected by the Garda and the Council's Traffic Engineer. Various issues regarding traffic and public order management were discussed. The preparation of the necessary traffic management plan is in progress in conjunction with the Gardai, public and private transport operators and event organisers for the stadium. The aim of the plan is to maximise the use of the stadium while minimising any disruption and inconvenience to the local community and other local businesses. The plan will be sufficiently flexible to cater for different events and attendance levels.  It will be an objective of the plan that on-street parking will generally be prohibited save where specifically authorised and approved by the Gardai and the Council.

It should be noted that disruption can be expected before and after matches in particular when other Dublin teams are visiting. The traffic measures that will be put in place are at the prerogative of the Garda.
