MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this committee calls on the Manager to arrange for appropriate measures to be taken to alleviate parking and traffic probelms outside Scoil Cáitlín Maude and Scoil Cnoic Mhuire in Knockmore".
REPORT:
Over the course of the last number of years, a series of meetings have been held with the Principals of the above schools to discuss traffic congestion , illegal parking and concerns for pupils safety particularly at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Arising from the above meetings, the Council has carried out extensive traffic management measures in the vicinity of the schools entrance and these measures include the following
As with many of the schools throughout the country, traffic congestion is on-going especially at school opening and closing times and is mainly due to non-compliance with the specific measures that have been installed by the Council. Arrangements will be made to contact the Gardai and request that they carry out further checks at this location from an enforcement perspective. The Council will also continue to monitor the location.
