MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That this committee notes the important contribution that Deputation meetings can make towards open lines of communication, exchange of information and general goodwill between community/residents groups and this Council and requests that the Manager highlights clearly the benefits and operation of this process to community/residents groups in the Tallaght area.

REPORT:

Information on the Deputation process is available on South Dublin County Council’s website.  In conjunction with this, information is disseminated through our team of Community Workers who work closely with numerous community groups operating throughout the county.  The Elected Members also perform an important role in informing groups of the Deputation process.

Community Department facilitates this process on behalf of all Council Departments and it is generally agreed by all concerned ( Communities . Members and Officials ) that this is a most worthwhile and productive service that enables direct communication and input from local groups with regard to matters that are of immediate concern to them.

It is the intention of Community Department to continue this important service during 2009.
