MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That the Manager immediately provides a sustainable and monitored system for street cleansing for the main distributor roads in the Jobstown. Brookfield, Fettercairn and Killinarden areas, noting the lack of cleansing of many of these roads in the past year.

REPORT:

The Cleansing Section monitor the street sweeping contract in a structured manner to ensure that the agreed programme of cleaning is undertaken by the contractors and regular service reports are provided by the contractor. The schedule allows for a sweep of main roads monthly and other roads on a quarterly basis.

Notwithstanding this, the Cleansing Section have made arrangements to specifically monitor the areas mentioned to ensure that agreed standards are met by the contractor and will make arrangements to supplement the contracted service with additional clean-ups/sweeps as required.

A full schedule of all cleaning/street sweeping routes and programmes is currently being prepared in a format that will be easily interrogated by the public and Councillors and will be placed on the Council's website in the coming weeks. In the meantime, details of recent sweeping dates in the areas mentioned are below:
