QUESTION: Councillor E. Maloney

"To ask the Manager to indicate when the Pay As You Go bin system will commence in Tallaght?"

REPLY:

The project to register householders' bins in preparation for the changeover to the new advanced credit system for waste collection charges is now substantially completed with most routes having over 90% of the bins registered.  Discussions and preparations with companies providing payment terminals are also advanced and the Environmental Services Department are in discussions with staff representatives to agree which routes a pilot changeover will take place on in order to commence the roll-out.  It is anticipated that pilot routes will be in operation within 6-8 weeks but it is not possible at this stage to definitively state which routes will be included.
