MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon

That a draft plan for the proposed public park at Ellensborough be presented to the Committee for consideration, and that the consultative process commence thus enabling local residents to have a meaningful input into the outcome.

REPORT:

The lands in question were acquired in 1998 as part of an exchange for Council owned lands in Kiltipper.  The development of the Kiltipper lands as a proposed public park is included for consideration as part of the Council’s Rolling Capital Programme.  Plans are at an advanced stage for the primary development of the proposed parkland which will create pedestrian links from Kiltipper to the Dodder and utilise the natural resources of the lands for recreational purposes.  It is proposed to present a draft plan of the pedestrian path system to the March meeting of the Tallaght Area Committee for consideration and if accepted, it is proposed to commence the Part 8 consultative procedure.  However, like all other items in the Rolling Capital Programme the development of these lands is subject to the identification and allocation of funding for its delivery.
