At the meeting of the Environment Strategic Policy Committee held on the 4th February 2009 the Draft Climate Change Strategy as prepared by CODEMA in conjunction with the Council, was noted. The Council will shortly commence a  public consultation process for the Strategy. It was agreed at the aforementioned SPC meeting that the Strategy should also be presented to the Area Committees. Members of the Area Committees will also be in a position to submit observations  in relation to the Strategy during the public consultation period.

The proposed  timeline for the completion of the Strategy is as shown below.

Ø      4^th February – report for SPC meeting

Ø      February– Public Consultation and presentation to Area Committees

Ø      Early March - Revised draft to SDCC Climate Change strategy Working Group

Ø      30^th March – Special SPC  meeting- (Subject to approval of the Organisation ,Procedure and Finance Committee.)

Ø      13th April  - presentation to Council meeting for formal adoption
