QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor M. Murphy

"In March it was reported that enforcement action had been taken against 15 people in the Tallaght Area for the misuse of Skip Bags and that verbal warnings were issued to a further 12 people to date (presumably meaning since skip bags became common). Could the manager update what these numbers are up to the end of the year for the Tallaght area?"

REPLY:

2008 statistics for litter and waste enforcement are being finalised at present but provisional reports from Litter Wardens for the Tallaght area indicate that over 200 verbal warnings were issued to householders with regard to skip bags and that enforcement action (comprising serving notices, issuing fines and commencing prosecutions) was taken against approximately 30 householders.
