MOTION: Councillor E. Maloney

To ask the manager as to whether the Council is responsible for the repair of the drain on *details supplied as the residents are unable to pay the repair bill and if he will make a statement on the matter?

REPORT:

The manhole in question, whilst outside the boundary of the private property in question, is part of  private combined drain that serves the property.The Council has agreed to dig out and repair the manhole on a once off  basis to ensure that any choke which may arise in the future is not caused by the manhole.  However, if in the future there is a choke on this private combined drain, it is the responsibility of the householders in question to have it unblocked at their own expense.
