MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager, particularly in response to a recent accident involving a 13 year old pupil of Colaiste Eanna, Ballyroan, make arrangements to immediately install pedestrian lights in the vicinity of the 'Topas' Petrol station on Ballyboden Road, following on previous requests/motions of mine on the same subject going back a number of years."

REPORT:

A meeting was held with the Stakeholders ( School Principals, Residents Associations,Parents Reps., Gardai.) and Council Officers on 11\12\08 in Colaiste Eanna to discuss the issues raised in the motion.A number of options proposed by SDCC, to address the safety concerns, were discussed at length. A formal written response to the discussions is to be made to SDCC, by the Stakeholders, in the near future --when we receive these responses we will then be in a position to re-examine the situation and submit a  comprehensive report to this committee.
