SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (2)

MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager, to write to the Department of Education and Science and the Minister for Education personally to express this Committees complete dissatisfaction with the fact that we are waiting for a response regarding the identification of a site for Scoil Cáitlín Maude in Knockmore since a motion in my name was passed in June of 2007 and that we find it unacceptable that the pupils and staff of the School and the Staff and elected representatives of this Council continue to be ignored despite the many reminder letters that have been sent to the Department regarding the request by the administration staff of this Committee".
REPORT:
The Council has had some brief discussions with the Department of Education and Science almost two years ago relating to the accommodation needs of Scoil Chaitlin Maude. Details of Council owned lands in the area were given to the Department so that they could identify a site suitable for their requirements which would then be examined by the Council and if the terms were agreed a proposal would be put to the Members for consideration. However no response identifying a suitable alternative site has been received from the Department in the meantime and it is understood that the Department is reviewing its existing landholding, in the area, with a view to facilitating the School with permanent accommodation. If the above motion is passed, the Department will be written to again notifying them of the terms of the motion.
