MOTION NO. 14

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager positively consider assisting Edmondstown National School Parent's Association in meeting the cost (total €7,500) to address silting in the Owendoher River adjacent to the school which has given rise to some flooding and for which the parent's must fund-raise to meet the cost."

REPORT:

The Council is re-examining this matter to ascertain whether the river bank at this location is in the ownership of the School Authorities. Following this examination the Council will discuss with the owners the question of carrying out the necessary works. However it should be noted that the responsibility for such works lies with the owners of the land. The Council does not provide financial help in such situations.
