MOTION NO 8.

MOTION: Councillor C. Brophy

"That the manager provide by way of a planting programme of trees or shrubs a barrier to cars parking on grass verges near public parks. The recently erected signs requesting cars not to park have made very little impact with the drivers of the offending vehicles."

REPORT:

It is the experience of the Park Department that the planting of trees and shrubs is of limited effect in deterring parking on grass verges given the necessary spacing requirements between trees but it will be considered where appropriate.  However, the issue of roadside parking is primarily a matter of control for the Roads Traffic section and subsequent policing by an Garda Siochana.  If specific problem locations are identified, the matter can be pursued in conjunction with Roads Traffic to implement suitable control measures.
