QUESTION NO 5.
QUESTION: Councillor S. Crowe
"To ask the manager will he give a report on measures he proposes to include in future works to prevent access to the green space by vehicles on Raheen Green?"
REPLY:
The open space at Raheen Green is generally in a good condition and is an important public amenity space in the Raheen area. The open space directly adjoins Raheen Green, Raheen Road and Raheen Drive and at present can be easily traversed by cars and other vehicles.
There are a number of possible options available to secure the boundary around the entire open space. These options include a) a high kerb; b) a line of bollards; c) a concrete stub wall and d) a low park-type railing around the perimeter of the space. To advance the matter, it is proposed to prepare estimate costs of the various options and to consult with local residents to establish a preferred option having regard to the availability of finance.
