QUESTION: Councillor S. Crowe
"To ask the manager will he arrange to investigate the source of the pollution coming from the pipe going into the stream down from the bottle bank at the top end of Sean Walsh Park and near the pedestrian bridge that appears to be coming from Cill Cais Estate?"
REPLY:
The Pollution Inspector inspected the area following receipt of this complaint by way of site inspection on Wednesday 19th November 2008. He noted that the discharge from the pipe was clean and clear at the time of his inspection. He did not see anything untoward in the park or housing estates in the area.
The Water Pollution Control Section have reported that such pollution incidents can be a one-off or sporadic. If the pollution observed has been noticed on several occasions at regular intervals then the Water Pollution Engineer has requested that the complainant contact the Council's Water Polllution Section to give them as much information as possible as to time of day, colour of discharge etc.and they will investigate as soon as possible following an event.
