QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor E. Maloney

"To ask the Manager to indicate when the two new Disabled Parking Spaces in Tallaght village will have legal status, and state the total number of D.P.Spaces within the village area?".

REPLY:

"The Council has recently reserved one of the existing parking spaces in Tallaght Village opposite the Priory for disabled parking only and the required markings to reserve this space for this purpose are in place. No further additional markings or signage is required and the reservation of the space to permit holders only is fully enforceable. In this regard the Council has requested the local Gardai and the local traffic warden to increase their enforcemnt of the parking regulations at this location. However as an additional reminder to drivers generally, arrangements are being made to erect a pole and plate to reinforce the reservation of the space for disabled permit holders only.

The recently provided space serving the new development at the Bank which has been provided on foot of the planning permission for the development is not yet in charge of the Council so the full provisions of the parking regulations are not yet enforceable. When the space is taken in charge arrangements will be made in conjuction with the Gardai to formally designate the space.

A survey of the village area will be required to determine the total number of disabled parking spaces that have been provided in each of the private car parks associated with each development in the village area in compliance with the requirements of the County Development Plan and their respective planning permissions".
