MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe

"That this Council Committee concerned at lack of any safe option for residents living in the Brookview/ Mc Uilliam area to cross the Fortunestown road calls on the manager as a matter of urgency to investigate this matter and install appropiate measures on this stretch of roadway".

REPORT:

The provision of improved pedestrian crossings options on Fortunestown Way has been the subject of detailed consideration by the Council especially in the light of a number of recent developments. A detailed study has been carried out of existing pedestrian facilities and a number of proposed improvements have been identified which will be required as further developments take place and when the new Luas service is extended to serve this general area.

Ongoing discussions with the major developer / land owner have also taken place and in the course of a recent meeting, the Council requested that improvements be made to the pedestrian facilities along Fortunestown Way at the earliest opportunity. The developer has indicated that he will consider the request and revert to the Council shortly with proposals.
