HEADED ITEM NO. 2 (b)
Report on any Regulations Governing Polluting Spotlights on
New Buildings (Large Arc Lights on all night – Newcastle Village)
REPLY:
With respect to floodlights for football or sports pitches, these do require planning permission and are assessed with reference to the possible impact of such structures on adjoining residential development where appropriate. Conditions attached to such permissions may include times for the turning off of these lights.
With respect to the placing of security/ arc lights on sites or buildings there are no specific planning regulations generally governing these. However, where the attention of the local authority is drawn to these lights creating a nuisance to local residents, the Environmental Health Officer will investigate and where appropriate take action under their governing legislation and regulation.
