QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane
"To ask the Manager for an up to date report on Graffiti removal in the TRAC area and to list (a) areas removed in the last 12 months and (b) outstanding areas to be removed with an approximate date for removal? (c) to state what help/anti graffiti paint etc. is available for communities who want to DIY?"
REPLY:
Since November 2007 a total of 88 graffiti removals have been carried out within the administrative area of this committee by the Council's Graffiti Removal Team or by contractor.
There are currently 10 specific locations awaiting completion within the following areas: Dodder Park Road, Ballyroan, Wainsfort, Knocklyon, Orlagh, Beaufort, Idrone, Knockaire, Rathfarnham Wood, Grange Road. Some of these are due for completion by the Council's Graffiti Removal Team and will be carried out within 7 days weather permitting and notwithstanding the need for immediate responses elsewhere to offensive graffiti. Additional areas have been referred to the contractor because of the type of walls affected and are likely to be completed within the next two weeks.
Residents who wish to engage in graffiti removal should in the first instance contact the local Litter Warden who, having regard for available resources, will arrange for materials and paint to be supplied where appropriate.
