QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager for a report on the number of collections by Panda in Terenure/Rathfarnham area?"

REPLY:

The Council is not in possession of figures for Panda collections or for those of any other private contractor within this county.

What can be stated however is that the influx of private contractors to this county has not significantly impacted on the service provided by the Council. While a number of Customers have transferred over to the private sector, this number is small and a number have returned to the Council.

It is also noteworthy that it has been found that Customers have availed of the free collections offered by the private contractors for the initial period but have held on to their authorisation for the Council's service.
