MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That the Manager take all steps necessary to ensure that the bye-laws are enforced in Knocklyon Park and to publish the bye-laws and make them available to the relevant sports bodies that utilise the park."
REPORT:
Bye-Laws are in force to ensure that parks, open spaces, and recreational playing grounds and their facilities are used to the maximum extent, in safety and comfort and for the protection of parks, open spaces and recreational playing grounds which are provided as a public amenity and for respect and consideration for parks users to ensure as much enjoyment as is possible, of these amenities.
In Knocklyon Park, the Council’s Parks Department in co – operation with the Gardai enforce the Bye- Laws as intensively as possible.

Bye Laws for Prohibiting the consumption of Intoxicating Liquor in public places within the county of South Dublin came into force with effect from the 9th August 2001 by virtue of Section 37 (1) of the Local Government Act 1994 Part VII.

In association with annual pitch letting application forms, copies of the Bye-Laws are made available to football clubs by the Parks Department. Football club adherence to the Bye-Laws forms part of annual pitch letting agreements.
