Cllr John Daly wished every success to Cllr Cathal King in is new role as Chair of Sports SPC.
B Coman expressed thanks to Mark Daly for his work to date, wishing him well in his future endeavours and welcomed Councillor King to the position of Chair of the SPC.
J Neville requested and agreed by the meeting that a letter of thanks be sent to Mark Daly on behalf of the members of the SPC thanking him for his efforts over the past number of years.
Item 1: Community Infrastructure Update – B Coman delivered a presentation on 2008 Capital Sports Grants allocation for the County and the successes of the Council to date in the provision of facilities for the community and highlighted current major projects ongoing.
Following a debate to which Councillors C. King, J. Neville, R. Dowds and J Daly and C Johnston contributed the presentation was welcomed as it particularly highlighted South Dublin County Council’s commitment to the provision of facilities in the county
AOB:
C. Johnston requested information on the engagement of young people in the county, also requesting that information be circulated with regards to the level of anti social behaviour in the county – a sub group may be formed to discuss above & prepare a report for circulation and debate at a future meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 6.15pm to greet the Minister of Community Rural and Galtacht Affairs who visited the County Hall to announce RAPID top-up grants for facilities benefiting from Sports Capital Funding in 2008.
