QUESTION: Councillor E. Maloney

"To ask the Manager when work will be compleated on the Childrens Playground at Watergate Park, Old Bawn?"

REPLY:

Following public advertisement, Tenders for the installation of a children’s playground at ‘Watergate Park’ were recently submitted and have now been examined by the Parks Department. A detailed analysis of the Tenders has been carried out and the County Council has recently appointed Play and Leisure Services Ltd. to undertake the work.

Preparatory works including site clearance works, installation of CCTV and provision of underground services has recently commenced.  A lead time of at least six to eight weeks is required for the ordering and delivery of the playground equipment so it is envisaged that the playground installation works will not commence until late November/early December.

The construction of the playground and associated works is expected to take 3-4  months subject to weather conditions. It is likely that the playground will be completed and available for use by the public by March 2009.
