QUESTION NO 19.

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager to liaise with the Roads Department in order to ensure that bulb planting is carried out immediately on any grass verge areas on Phase 3 of the Outer Ring Road so that flowers will be evident for next Spring?"

REPLY:

The Parks Dept. has consulted with the Roads Dept. in relation to the Tender for the landscaping of the Outer Ring Road Phase 3. The Roads Department has advised that the Tender Documents for the implementation of this scheme have been prepared but due to current financial constraints, the County Council is unable to proceed with the tendering of the contract.  The planting schedule proposed for the landscape treatment of this road included provision for the planting of bulbs on the central median and at appropriate junctions along the road.
