QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor J. Neville

" To ask the Manager to provide a number of litter bins along the pedestrian route adjacent to Kilnamanagh Community Centre?."

REPLY:

The provision of additional litter bins is assessed on a case by case basis having regard to the extent of the litter issues at particular locations, proximity of other litter bins in the area and the capcacity of crews collecting bins on the route.  It should be noted that litter prevention is another aspect that is pursued by the Environmental Awareness office through information sessions and talks in schools. This is often an option that delivers a more significant impact in terms of changing behaviour and promoting awareness.

The pedestrain route adjacent to Kilnamanagh Community Centre will be assessed in light of the context outlined above to acsertain whether the installation of litter bins is considered necessary.
