MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager update the committee on the preparation of a Master Plan/design for the open space at Pearse Brothers Park and this to be discussed in conjunction with the Housing Department."

REPORT:

Further to improvement schemes by the Housing and Roads Departments in Pearse Brothers Park, local residents have been in contact with the Parks Department in relation to improvement works to the open space, such works to include additional pathways, feature planting, bulb planting beneath tree stands and seating.

Parks Department Annual Works Programme 2007, provided for some landscape improvement works which were carried out on the open space consisting of new tree planting combined with some selective tree removals.

In June, local residents submitted a draft plan of further works for the open space, which they wish to have implemented, for review by the Parks Department.  The proposal was reviewed by the Parks Department and comments relayed back to the residents. 

When the landscape improvement plan has been finalised in conjunction with local residents, it is proposed to present the proposals to a future meeting of the Terenure/Rathfarnham Area Committee.
