MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That the the Manager write to the NRA to demonstrate the commitment of this committee & SDCC indicating the necessity for the extension of sound barrier no. 47 on the M50 adjacent to Ballrothery Roundabout /Tymon Park /and the residential area of W.O.R.K. and to report on the meeting arranged for WORK Residents Association with SDCC roads dept. & NRA and any follow up report on this meeting."
REPORT:
The request of the residents group to lengthen the proposed barrier has been brought to the attention of the NRA who are the clients for this PPP contract. The contractor is obliged to meet the requirements of the contract as it relates to the EIS approved by An Bord Pleanala and must comply with the necessary noise reduction requirements. The design for this portion of the scheme is not yet complete and the question of extension of same will be assessed in terms of the additional costs involved bearing in mind the overall effect of such extra cost on the contract as a whole. This matter will again be brought to the attention of the NRA.
