PROPOSED DISPOSAL OF AFFORDABLE DWELLINGS
Under Section 94 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended) South Dublin County Council prepared a Housing Strategy. One of the key purposes of the strategy is to identify the overall need for affordable housing in the area of the County Development Plan and to ensure that South Dublin County Council provides for the development of affordable housing. To date, the Council has been successful in acquiring affordable housing units for eligible applicants through:-
(a) Part V of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended)
(b) The development of public private partnerships/joint ventures.
(c) The Integrated Area Plans in tax designated areas.
The Property Path has sold 1216 affordable homes since the commencement of all programmes, under Part V, joint venture and affordable initiatives.
To date 342 applications have been made in respect of the 121 purchases being made by the Affordable Homes Partnership in March 2007. To date 112 of these properties have closed.
A new initative was launched IN August 2008 consisting of 134 properties in Newcastle.Adamstown, Lucan and Tallaght. An internet and newspaper promotional campaign is under way on these homes. To date 74 deposits have been placed on these properties.
In order to comply with the requirements of Section 211 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended) and Section 183 of the Local Government Act, 2001 it is recommended that the Council dispose of 1 propertyat Lyons Avenue, Newcastle, Co Dublin, 1 Property at Priorsgate, Greenhills Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24, 1 property in Eaton Close, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, 16 Properties at Broadfield Hall, Belgard Square, Tallaght, Dublin 24, 1 Property at Suncroft Park, Tallaght, Dublin 24 to the eligible applicants (schedule available at the meeting) in accordance with the affordable housing scheme as adopted by the Council in April 2003.
It is also proposed to amend resolution minute no. c/0308/08 dated 08/09/08 regarding the applicant set out in the second schedule hereto.
The consent of the Council is sought for the disposal of these properties to eligible applicants.
