QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager to clarify the ownership of the banks of the Poddle at Wellington Lane between the former Petrol Station and (*details supplied) as the County Council flood protection works from Hurricane Charlie in 1986 have become overgrown and have become a location for dumping and are infested with vermin and will he outline what can be done to resolve the situation and will he make a statement on the matter?

REPLY:

The land in question is not in the ownership of South Dublin County Council.  A request has been sent to our Roads Department to have the area in question inspected by an Area Engineer under the Derelict Sites Act 1990.  If the area is found to be in a derelict condition, a Section 11 Notice will be issued to the owners giving a list of works which need to be carried out in order to render it non derelict.

Enviornmental Services Department have been instructed to inspect this area for dumping.
