QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor M. Ardagh

"To ask the Manager for on update on the derelict site and the proposed visit by the EHO to the site (details supplied)?"

REPLY:

The houses at 1 & 2 Ballymount Villas were inspected by an Area Engineer and deemed non-derelict, however he did recommend some work to be carried out to ensure that these houses wouldn’t become derelict.  Following a recent re-inspection of these houses it was found that the recommended works were not carried out, therefore, the Area Engineer deemed these houses to be derelict.  A Section 11 Notice was served on the owners and on expiry of same a further inspection will be carried out.

The houses at 3 & 4 Ballymount Villas were inspected by an Area Engineer and deemed to be derelict.  A Section 11 Notice was served on the owners and on expiry of this Notice a re-inspection of these houses was carried out where it was found that none of the recommended works were carried out.  As the owners failed to comply with the Section 11 Notice, these cases have been referred to the Law Department for legal proceedings to be initiated.
