QUESTION NO. 21
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh
"To ask the Manager what measures can be put in place in Springfield Road Templeogue to control parking as residents are greatly inconvenienced by bus commuters using the street as a Park and Ride facility and whether this issue will be examined in the context of the review of parking arrangements in the Templeogue Village area and will be make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
The Roads Department is currently drafting revised Control of Parking Bye Laws. The Council is empowered to adopt such byelaws under Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1994.
The current Control of Parking Bye Laws define the area where pay and display or permit parking, apply. In order for additional areas to be included in any pay and display or permit parking scheme, a new bye law must be adopted.
The area around Springfield Road Templeogue will be examined and a report on the parking arrangements will be presented to the members in conjunction with the proposed implementation of revised bye laws.
