QUESTION NO.2
QUESTION: Councillor D. Corrigan
To ask the Manager if the Scheme of Letting Priorities could include single people, male and female to be permitted to go on South Dublin County Council's housing lists, thereby making the Scheme compliant with the Equal Status Acts 2000 to 2004?
REPLY:
With regard to South Dublin County Council's Affordable Housing list, there are no restrictions on a single person applying provided that they meet the criteria outlined in the Council's Affordable Housing Scheme.
In accordance with the Council's Scheme of Letting Priorities "single adults with no dependants who have accommodation available to them in their family home will not be considered for Council housing except where priority status has been granted". However, single adults, who are applying from an address outside their family home are eligible to apply for Social Housing subject to their application meeting the criteria as outlined in the Scheme of Letting Priorities.
