QUESTION NO. 16
QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane
"To ask the Manager to consult with Hermitage Residents Association re footpaths to be repaired i.e. where there are trees causing the problem. Removal of the mature trees is not an option that should be contemplated. Appropriate root treatment will surely solve the issue i.e. remove the roots at the surface without damaging the tree and that full consultation take place with residents association. The paths are in poor condition due to lack of maintenance and the scrabbling carried out recently has made matters worse?"
REPLY:
Trip hazards have been removed recently in Hermitage by scabbling the lips that have developed. Where the raising of a footpath slab has been caused by tree roots, Parks Department have advised that removal of the tree and replacement with a more suitable species is the solution.
