QUESTION NO 9.

QUESTION: Councillor T. McDermott

"To ask that the Manager take action to repair and restore the tardy workmanship and poor finish on the wall at the Priory on Whitehall Road. The loose facing stones are a safety hazard, the capping is non-existent and the wall is bringing the judgement of SDCC into disrepute?"

REPLY:

The wall in question is an open space boundary wall.  It has a smooth plaster finish with piers faced with red brick at intervals and a concrete capping.  A number of the piers have become exposed as the previous covering of climbing Ivy plants has fallen away.  The brick facing on the piers has also fallen away and the material has been removed by the Parks Department and the area made safe.

The repair of the wall will be carried out by the Parks Department and is scheduled to take place before the end of the year.
