QUESTION NO 5.
QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane
"To ask the Manager for an update on the taking in charge of Stonepark Abbey/Longwood estate outlining outstanding issues and detailing current stage – particularly the open space issue?"
REPLY:
The taking in charge of the open spaces in Stonepark Abbey is being pursued as a Deed of Transfer in order to give title of the land to the Council.
The developer has submitted a Draft Deed of Transfer to the Parks Department. A recommendation for taking in charge of the open spaces at Stonepark Abbey was prepared by the Parks Department and forwarded to the Development Department for processing. The documentation has been verified and deemed to be in order by the Development Department. It has been forwarded to the Law Department to arrange for transfer of title to the lands. Following completion of this process the Parks Department will take possession of the open spaces and put them under regular maintenance.
As the developer had not completed outstanding landscaping works by March 2008, the Parks Department requested from the Planning Department the retention of funds from the security bond to enable the Parks Department to arrange for the completion of the outstanding landscaping works.
The Parks Department met with representatives from the Residents Association on July 29th to discuss the undertaking of the outstanding landscaping works. Arrangements are currently being made by the Parks Department to seek quotations for the necessary landscaping works. It is proposed to undertake the works during the 2008/09 Winter planting season.
