An Cathaoirleach Councillor M. Daly presided.
1/ Minutes of meeting of minutes of meeting of 18 February 2008 were discussed and matters arising dealt with.
Proposed by Cllr M Daly and seconded by Cllr J Neville the minutes were agreed as a true record.
2/ Community Infrastructure Update
Cllr D. Keating enquired regarding commitment regarding the provision of Lucan Swimming Pool and a discussion ensued regarding the Capital Programme and provision of Lucan Swimming Pool and funding of further Skateboard Park to which Cllrs D. Keating, M. Daly, J. Neville and S. Reid and P. Smith contributed. A. Shields commended the recommencement of work at the new Shamrock Rovers stadium.
3/ Audit of Sports Facilities
P.Smith outlined details of proposed audit.
C Johnson enquired if the Clondalkin Swimming Pool upgrade and facilities such as Tallaght Athletic track are part of new audit, stressing the need to capitalise on 2012 Olympics. Cllr M Daly concurred noting that Ryder Cup only focused on hotels and suggested that a proposal on this matter should be further considered at overall Corporate level.
This item should be revisited at future meeting.
4/ Heritage Plan
Colin Ryan, Senior Planner introduced Dr Rosaleen Dwyer, South Dublin County Council’s Heritage Officer to the Committee and Dr Dwyer made a Presentation on the proposed new Heritage Plan for South Dublin County.
It is expected that a first draft of the Plan will be ready in November / December of this year, following which there will be a period of public consultation etc. Final amendments are expected in spring 2009.
A public launch of the Plan is projected for early / mid summer 2009
A discussion ensued regarding aspects of the Heritage Plan to which members contributed and Cllr. M. Daly advised all members of the Committee to provide any relevant information they may have to Dr. Dwyer.
5/ AOB
A Shields enquired re Comhairle Na nOg representation on SPC and Cllr M Daly asked that this be followed up on.
This matter to be further investigated.
