APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE CAPITAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FROM FOLD HOUSING ASSOCIATION IRELAND LIMITED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6 OF THE HOUSING (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT, 1992 FOR THE ACQUISITION OF 23 HOUSING UNITS AND A COMMUNAL ROOM AT FORTFIELD SQUARE, COLLEGE DRIVE, DUBLIN 6W

An application has been recieved from FOLD Housing Association Ireland, for a grant in the sum of €5,348,270 under the Capital Assistance Scheme for the purchase of 23 housing units and a Communal Room at Fortfield Square, College Drive, Dublin 6W.  The Association is an approved Voluntary Body under Section 5 of the Housing Act 1988.  The Council has arranged for the acquisition of these units by Fold under a Part V agreement from Jackie Green Construction Limited under Planning Application permissions SD02A/0427.  The apartments will be used as sheltered accommodation for the elderly and FOLD has considerable experience in the management of such accommodation.

Under Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 the granting of assistance under the Capital Assistance Scheme is a reserved function of the Council and is subject to the approval of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

Accordingly, the following resolution is required:

"That this Council recommends that the application for a grant in the sum of €5,348,270 under the Capital Assistance Scheme to Fold Ireland for the purchase of 23 housing units and a communal room at Fortfield Square, College Drive, Dublin 6W  in accordance with the requirements of Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 be approved"
